This is a statement of the steps that Gershon Legal Search Ltd. has taken to ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in our business or in our supply chains. Whilst our firm is not considered a “relevant commercial organisation” as defined by the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and therefore not required to publish a statement in accordance with section 54 of the Act, as a firm we are committed to supporting the objectives of the Act. As such, this statement is for the financial year ending 31st October 2020.
As a legal executive search and recruitment firm we are rightly held to high standards in all that we do. We believe that the sustainability of our business and the achievement of our aim to be the search firm of choice for international law firms is dependent on our ability to inspire trust and earn the confidence of all our stakeholders. To do this we must act responsibly, supporting their future success and creating long-term value. This includes supporting the objectives of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
Business and supply chains
Gershon Legal Search is a London-based legal recruitment and search firm which provides recruitment services to candidates as well as retained or contingent searches to law firms. We have one office and focus on the core practice areas of commercial activity - capital markets; corporate and M&A; finance and banking; real estate; tax, pensions and employment, and litigation and dispute resolution. Our principal company is Gershon Legal Search Ltd. incorporated under English law.
Our supply chains relate to our London office-based search and recruitment business. Our suppliers are engaged on a local basis. We carry out due diligence on new suppliers and seek to establish and maintain relationships with our suppliers with a view to ensuring that all elements of our supply chain act in accordance with applicable laws, our values and ethical business principles.
Gershon Legal Search has a policy relating to slavery and human trafficking; and to global human rights.
Gershon Legal Search opposes all forms of slavery and human trafficking, and we are committed to taking steps to ensure that these do not occur in our business or in our supply chains. Our modern slavery policy is an affirmation of our commitment to responsible, sustainable and ethical business. We actively support the UN Global Compact’s 10 principles focusing on the core areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.
The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights which were unanimously endorsed by the Human Rights Council in 2011 state that all business enterprises have a responsibility to respect human rights. As a firm, Gershon Legal Search agrees to support and respect internationally recognised human rights consistent with the UN Guiding Principles.

Due diligence and risk assessment
In 2017, we reviewed our supply chains to identify and assess the risk of slavery and human trafficking, the measures in place to address such risks, and any additional measures that may be needed. As a professional search and recruitment services firm adhering to all applicable laws in the jurisdiction in which we operate, and in the light of our ethical policies and practices, we have assessed that there is a low risk of slavery or human trafficking existing within our own business, although we remain alert to possible risks within our supply chains, and are prepared to address any that may arise.
We acknowledge that slavery and human trafficking exist in many jurisdictions including the UK.
As a business, we rely on the products of software and hardware providers (e.g. Microsoft, Hewlett Packard) to ensure the organised and efficient delivery of personnel and information to the law firms we service. Accordingly, we actively attempt to monitor and ensure that the providers we use have the appropriate policies in place to proactively address issues relating to ethical considerations such as labour, environmental impact, and social contribution. As highlighted earlier, our firm is not considered a “relevant commercial organisation” as defined by the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
